(一)基本資料

The school I chose was IUP, Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It been about 8 month, from August 18 to March 18.(18字)

(二)課程學習

For this two semester, l have learn a lot, the first semester I had Principles of Macroeconomics, World Geography, Journalism & Mass Media and introduction of art. For the next semester, I had consumer behavior, principle of management and principle of marketing. All of these classes are quite good, the teachers are also very nice, I like the Journalism & Mass Media the most, because her class is really interesting, she will let us group up and discussion so we can know our classmates, and she is really nice to international students like us, although she gave us many homework and her exam are a little hard for me, but I remember after the midterm, she saw some of our grade wasn’t very good, she told us to wait for her after class, and she said she will give us extra bonus, thanks for the bonus, I pass the course. For the students who wants to come to IUP, you can choose World Geography, it is a really relaxed class, about the art, it is also a good choice, both of their test and homework won’t be that hard, you can get good grades, and you can learn a lot from these courses. (三)生活環境

The place where I live was call Wallwork, all international student must live on campus. Wallwork has a good location, it is in the middle of the campus. In Wallwork every floor has two laundry room and two trash room, it’s quite convenient. Before you come to IUP, they will sent an email to ask you to choose your dorm and meal plan, there are some options that you can choose, which I chose was two people to share a room and my meal plan is 10 meals plus 300 flexs. Lucky for me, my roommate moved out at October, and no one move in, so I can use two people room by my own. At first I was kind of lonely that no one can talk to me, but later my dorm become everyone’s playground. And for the 300 flexs you can buy Starbucks, food in Crimson café or Hub. For me, my meal plan is enough for me, if not you can change it. The weather in IUP was not bad, it is dryer than Taiwan. It will be cold at October, and started to snow at November, the cold will stay until March, so you must prepare a coat or you will be frozen, but I love the weather in IUP. Indiana is a small town, there aren’t many store around us, but it still have Walmart, Martin, or T. J. Maxx for you to shop, it takes about 15 to 20 minute to get there, you can take the number 12 bus for free with your icard. (258字)

(四)自我成長

Before I came to IUP, at first, I thought that having an English class isn’t too hard for me, but I’m wrong! It is totally different, teachers speaks really fast, and if you are writing notes, you have to write really fast, they change the PowerPoint so fast that you couldn’t catch up, so you need to be really concentrate during the class. But it has been better for about three weeks, now I can catch up. I have attend an activity from school, call family program, me and a Japanese girl call Koharu we were distribution together, our family mom and dad is call Marica and John, they were really nice to us, at first, I was a little shy, I’m worried about my poor English , but they change me, they treat me as their daughter, they took us to the zoo, their home, and took me having dinner, I have a lot of fun, lots of good memory with them, having conversation with them, I feel that my English is better then before. I also attend an activity call conversation partner, I had two partners, they are Alicia and Rion, Alicia is American and Rion is Japanese, they are very kind and lovely, we had dinner for once, we talk a lot of things, like our own family, country culture, foods, while the conversation you can find that there are lots of different between us, you can learn many things from them, I am very lucky and happy that I was their partner. Back to topic, don’t be afraid to talk to others, they are really nice, and if you have question, just ask them, they will help you. I really miss all of them. (292字)

(五)大三出國建議

For the junior students, here are some of my suggestions, don’t bring too many things, you can buy everything in Walmart, like blanket, towel, pillow and so on. But you can bring many Taiwanese food, because you will definitely miss it, some of them you can see it here but it is really expensive. And don’t bring too many clothes, because you will buy more clothes here, or if the clothes you bring you are planning to throw it here it’s fine, you don’t want when you are going back and your luggage is too heavy and have to paid extra money. IUP will be very cold at winter, you might want to bring many winter clothes to here, but I suggest you don’t bring it, you can buy it here, because the weather in US is very different, the clothes will have different effect, so don’t waste your luggage space, put more food. And remember to close your PNC account before you come back, like me, I didn’t have enough time to close my account, some I have to call PNC to close my account, it is a little annoy, and international calls are expensive. The most important is you have to open your heart, brave to speak English, don’t be afraid to speak, accept every different cultures, meet new friends, attend school’s activities, go to other city as many as you can during the vacation, don’t spent all your time in your dorm. This year will become a very wonderful and different junior life and memory to you. (270字)
