My favorite class is not a formal course, it's ELP. Because my English is not good enough, I have to take the ELP course in the United States during the summer vacation. From the beginning, the teachers took us to learn the environment and go around. In summer, the scenery of Winona is very good. No one is attending the school during vacation. It feels special that the whole school is only for us. The course is not easy. There are four classes every morning and afternoon. Listening, speaking, reading, writing, four professors. We had lessons need to review and homework every day, so I had a very fulfilling days, and I can feel that my English is improving. The first lesson in the morning is listening and speaking. There would be lots of time that I need to talk, I felt most nervous in this class. Teacher would randomly ask you question. The second class is writing. Professor taught us the structure of the essay and practice from the article. And we had little vocabulary quiz every week. The third class is reading, we usually followed the reference books to learn, and there are some games occasionally. We needed to study a lot of articles or news in this course. The last class is comprehensive course and it's my favorite class. There are lots of difference in this class. Sometimes we will be asked to investigate some nearby things and then report to everyone on the stage. This class needs to cooperate with your team members. We reported in the library at the end of the semester, and there is also a final evaluation and final tests, which is very professional. I highly recommend this ELP course, It was the most fulfilling days when I studied in Winona. the professors are really kind people. (305字)

(三)生活環境

There are five kinds of school dormitory in different area. I lived in Kirkland during the summer vacation. There are 2 to 4 small rooms in each room. Each room has it’s own space. If you like to live alone, you can choose Kirkland. At first semester I moved to Eastlake to live, because Eastlake dormitory has a kitchen and living room, which is very comfortable. The disadvantage is that you need to take a bus or walk on your own to school. The bus leaves every 15 minutes, so it is actually very convenient. If you want to live with friends, Eastlake is best choice. For the part of the school meal, I was the plan together with the dormitory. Because we need to buy the school meal when you live in school’s dormitory. There are two plans we can choose, one is to buy Zane's block plan, you can choose the combination of burger, Foodpanda, Starbucks, etc. The second is basic meal plan , We can choose how many meals you need a week, each meal can eat every thing you want in the school cafeteria. Winona has four distinct seasons. It is very hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Don’t go out when you have nothing to do. When the weather is below -20 degrees, it will be dangerous to go out for too long. In winter, you should buy gloves that are very warm. If necessary, you can take Uber to the nearby supermarket prepare food for a week. The gym is open every day from 6 am to 10 pm. If I felt bored, I often go to do some exercise. There are many activities on Winona Lake, you can go boating, and ice skating in winter.(292字)

When I studied abroad, I think the biggest difference is communication. I had learn some English in Taiwan, but when I actually talk to people in the United States, I felt completely different. I slowly learned a lot of English that we should use in communication, then I knew how to reply to others in normal ways. The second is the culture of class. There are often homework assignments in the United States that need to be reported in class. I was always be very nervous before I walked on stage, but after reported few times, I didn't get nervous as easily as I used to. The professor will always ask questions and students should learn from the answers. There was a photography course and the professor asks questions from beginning till end. Writing was also a big challenge for me. English article composition is very different from Chinese. I needed to think about the structure and arguments of my essay first. I did not write well. I felt that there are many things I need to strengthen. You can strongly feel many teachers ask students to do their homework and then ask the students questions during class. There is also a big difference in food. American food is always hamburger, pizza, fries, starch is mashed potatoes or corn, vegetables are Sarah, sometimes I ’m not used to eating I will go to FoodPanda to have some Chinese food, Americans also I like taco very much, but I don’t really like it. Most Americans are very tall. I was a little shocked when I played basketball with them. Although I already see some videos but I still surprised about their physique. The land in the United States is very large. I felt that it takes a while to go everywhere, But the resources are also relatively large for each person. There are really much resources can be used when I'm in WSU.(323字)

(五)大三出國建議

I would suggest that if you want to experience a quieter life in the countryside, Winona is a good choice. The system of Winona University is perfect. The school attaches great importance to international students. The International Student Affairs Office is very complete. The school is very friendly to international students. Any questions can be answered and help, the school will also hold some activities from time to time. You can pay little fare to the biggest shopping mall in US or to the Target center to watch the Minnesota wolves game. There are many activities by the lake to relax you, Although it is not charming compared with the city, the country has its beauty. I will suggest that if you have extra time to participate in school activities, whether it is an international student event or hold by school, you will learn a lot from it. The school club is also great. Chi Alpha is a very good club. You can meet many great people in church. You can also try Christianity. When you are studying American culture, you can also try religious culture. I would suggest that if you have a long vacation or a gap at the end of the semester, you must travel to other states. My most regrettable thing is that I returned to the country early because of the epidemic. The best thing about studying abroad is to travel to other states. Domestic flights are inexpensive and easy to fly. Every state is very different. Chicago can be easily reached by train from Winona. Traveling can see a completely different view, make you to harvest more while study abroad.(276字)
