2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM), the school that I chose to study during my junior year. The school is located in The United Arab Emirates, Dubai. I study in EAHM for a trimester from September 2019 to December 2019. After the trimester, I did my internship at Al Wathba, A Luxury Collection Hotel, Abu Dhabi from January 2020 to the middle March 2020. I finished my internship earlier because of the Coronavirus threats whole the world.(73字)

(二)課程學習

During the study, I took Leadership, Front Office Operations, Introduction to Hospitality and Events Management, English Composition and Rhetoric, Career Development and Industry Presentations. The course I like the most in these five courses is Introduction to Hospitality and Events Management. Mr. David Butterton, the professor of this course. He is also an owner of a hotel which located in the countryside in the UK with some shareholders. In this course, he shared his own experiences of managing a hotel. He taught us the methods to make your own business success by analyze your own business, compare with other businesses, etc. He taught us how to analyze the business by many different directions of business models to keep the business in the right track and how to compare with other businesses not only with the businesses in the same industry. This course is not only like a lecture course as well. He guided us to do some exercises to cultivate our critical thinking, he let us to find some successful properties and companies in the market to figure out why they are successful. What is their strengths, what is their weaknesses, how to learn from their strengths and how to improve their weaknesses. Sometimes we work as a team in the class to create our own business. By creating our own business, we will know how apply the analysis which we did to make the business better I will always remember the three steps to make well analysis that he told us many times. First, create the data. Second, analysis the data. Third, speak to the data. It looks like some simple steps, but it will make sure if we really did the complete assessment while we doing the analysis. I think it is a practical course for people who want to own their business in the future. it is also the best reason that I like this course the best.(321字)

(三)生活環境

Dubai, one of the most safety city in the world. Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) is the only educate institution which belongs to Jumeirah Property, the well-known hotel property in world. It shares the resources with whole the property. It provides the complete equipment for the students who study there. The academy is located just near the Burj Al Arab, the most famous and luxurious hotel in the world. For students, the academy provides the single room with fine bathroom and kitchen in every rooms. Luckily, the direction of my room just face the Burj Al Arab that can let me see is outside the window. I can enjoy the night view before I sleep and the day view after I wake up everyday. There are many facilities in the campus, like library, outdoor swimming pool, gymnasium, lounge with a pool table. I almost spent most of my time after the class in these places to build up my fitness in the gym, practice my billiards skills in the lounge which called Barza and interact with people around the world nearby the swimming pool. During the weekends, we went to some places which are the famous tourist spots in Dubai with friends, such as old souk which full of the culture of Dubai, The Palm which is the man-made island connected with the land, Dubai Mall which is the largest mall around the world, Burj Khalifa which is the tallest building around the world and so on. During the holidays, the Taiwanese students always gathered together to have the dinner, played some board games and chatted with each other. During the winter vacation, we went to Burj Khalifa to watch the fireworks in New Year Eve, went to desert to have a desert safari package tour to experience their culture and cuisines and went to Abu Dhabi to have two-day trip. The transportations in Dubai is very convenient just like my hometown Taipei city. They have complete bus and metro network. It is also easy to take the taxi or Uber everywhere by using the apps. The academy is also near the Mall of Emirates which has a Biggest Carrefour in Dubai, so it is easy for us to purchase some daily supplies, ingredients and food.(377字)

(四)自我成長

Internship, one of the important part for junior study abroad. Finally I joined Al Wathba Desert Resort and Spa, Abu Dhabi. It is the only one resort located in the middle of the desert in Abu Dhabi but not Dubai which belongs to Jumeirah Property. At the beginning, everything went fluently. I chose Food & Beverage as my department for internship. At the first day of our duty, we had a small greeting with heads of every department including General Manager. After the greeting, we had a small meeting with the assist outlet manager of Food & Beverage Department. Basically, it was just like a chit chat with some afternoon tea. After that I was allocated to Terra Secca, an Italian restaurant which is the only Fine Dining restaurant in the resort. After couple weeks of duty, everything went fluently but we heard a shock news about our resort is going to transfer to Marriott property in few weeks. It will no longer belongs to Jumeirah property. Eventually, we were been decided to stay with Marriott to operate the resort for a brand new start. It is a whole different brand of hospitality with different style, operation and vision. Jumeirah property is a domestic luxury hospitality brand. Marriott is definitely an international hospitality brand. It was an unforgettable experience to participate the two different famous brands in hospitality operation. However,This is how life works. The only thing that never changes is constantly changing.(242字)

(五)大三出國建議

I believe most of people heard about Dubai. In most of people's first impression, Dubai must be very luxurious and people may come out with lots of imagination. This place is not only luxurious, but also busy, incredible. I strongly recommend everyone should experience Dubai at least once on their own no matter for study abroad or for a vacation. It will fulfill your imagination without doubt. About the recommendation for the junior and freshman students, the lectures in Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) are mostly like a lecture in the lecture hall. There are just few exercise and activities. On the other hand, Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management (EAHM) has a strong connection with the industry of hospitality. Especially it belongs to Jumeirah property which is the famous and luxurious brand in Dubai, UAE. So if you want to experience a unprecedented internship that other place cannot offer you. You must choose Dubai as you junior study abroad.(160字)
