2019大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

My school is Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology which also known as RMIT University. It’s a public research university located in Melbourne, Australia. And my major in RMIT is Diploma of International Business; it had two semesters and took one year to study. Each semester has four different courses, the first semester includes Promote product and Service, International Business Finance, Analyze Customer Behavior, and Lead and Manage Team. As for the second semester, the courses are Analyze data, Forecast International market, Negotiate a Contract, and Profile International Markets.(89字)

In all courses, every teacher is quite different; their races, accents, values, personalities, teaching methods, etc. and the teacher that I felt most interesting is Chris Lee, who is a Japanese-Australian but only speaks English. Maybe because of the Japanese descent, he always pays attention on things happening in Asia, and likes to discuss with his students, especially the Asian students. Have to admit that Chris is a responsible teacher, he not only teaches carefully but tells us how to do step by step. For example, when taking note, he taught us how to create a folder dedicating to storing coursework documents to manage many different files; it’s really useful and easily for me to find files I needed, and organize documents systematically also makes my desktop cleaner and tidier. In addition, love chatting and joking are big advantage of Chris as well; he always shares his thoughts on everything with us, and what interesting and funny things he encountered, so fifteen-minute break time filled with laughter is quite common. Chris was responsible for two courses, they were Promote Product and Service in the first semester and Forecast International Market in the second semester. I learned a lot from Promote Product and Service course, such as 4Ps, marketing mix, SWOT analysis, and promotional methods, etc. they are the most basic but important knowledge of marketing. And Forecast International Market course made me understand how necessary researching and analyzing market is before entering into a new market. I think due to Chris explained and taught patiently with his easy going and optimistic personality, I could learn so much and enjoyed in his classes. Moreover, there is another reason that why I like Chris; he really loves Taiwan, he always told us what a wonderful experience he had when he traveled in Taiwan and how beautiful is Taiwan. In brief, each teacher has their own advantages, and all of them are good teachers, I learned very much from each of courses. I believe these knowledge will be helpful for me in the future. (342字)

(三)生活環境

RMIT University is very different from other universities, its campus is not gathered in an area; the campus is formed by many buildings spreading in Melbourne city, and each building is used for different departments. For instance, building 80 is for business departments, so it’s our main activity building. Because most of RMIT buildings are located in Melbourne CBD, the transportation is quite convenient, and various stores around; we have rich and interesting activities options after class. As for accommodation, for students who studying in Melbourne city, apartment, student dorm, and home stay are three common selections. Several friends rent and share one apartment is the method I chose, although I like having own independent space which student dorm can provide, the monthly rent is too expensive for me; and home stay is usually located in suburbs, so it’s inconvenient for me to get to school. Thus, we decided to rent an apartment together; our apartment have every device we needed, and the rent is reasonable for us, it also close to RMIT and CBD, so we all satisfied with this cute and comfortable home. I think the climate in Melbourne is comfortable, because no matter what season it is dry. Although the temperature in winter is lower than in Taiwan, compared with very high humidity whole year of Taiwan, the dry cold is still more comfortable and tolerable. Moreover, due to four seasons are obvious, we can enjoy four looks of Melbourne, especially in autumn and spring, the color of leaves of street trees are really beautiful. (259字)

(四)自我成長

Even in a country, different places have different customs and living habits, not to mention how big cultural difference is between western and eastern countries. In the first three months, I was trying hard to adapt to the new environment; all aspects on living are quite different from Taiwan. For example, on the food aspect, the Australian diet is dominated by cold food; when I wanted to ingest some vegetables in local restaurant, they usually offer raw salads, and less choices for cooked vegetables. So we often cooked by ourselves, and when dining out, Asian restaurants like Thai style, Korean style, and Chinese style, etc. are our first pick. In addition, Australia’s stores usually close around 6 p.m., only on special holidays such as black Friday and boxing day the stores extend business hour. Thus, for people who are night owl will feel a little bit bored. Since the rampant impact of corona virus in the second half of the year, I deeply felt how different the values of Australians are from us. Due to Australians do not have habit of wearing masks, they even think masks are for people who are very sick, so you may receive excessive concern if wearing masks. This value makes very few Australians wear masks when the virus just started to spread, so we were scared during that period. But along with the epidemic became more and more severe, and after Australia government promoting the importance of masks and formulating a series of response policies, most of people were willing to wear. (五)大三出國建議

Studying abroad always on my dream list; witnessed many seniors who returned from different countries and became so confident and brave to express made me have stronger desire to study in a whole new environment. Before this trip was going to start, I hoped I can grow in every aspect, for instance, English speaking ability, life independence, and resilience when facing a variety of things, etc. in brief, I was so excited on this challenge. However, not everything was as what I imaged and expected, I encountered a lot of things that are unpleasant, delightful, reluctantly, unforgettable, and so on. During the processes of facing these events, I obtained some feelings and experiences which only this special trip can give to me, and I also learned and grew a lot from these. For example, I had a part time job in a Chinese restaurant in summer vacation, when serving foreign customers, I must greet and interact with them, and sometimes I couldn’t understand their phraseology and meaning, so I sought help from other colleagues, and from these events I learned some special words and phrases. At last I want to provide some advice to students who are going to study abroad, when you have desire to do something, even you are a little bit scared or hesitantly, I think you should just do it, because if you are not, you may lose this precious opportunity and regret. As long as you take actions, even if frustrated, you can learn and grow from setbacks. Furthermore, traveling around in that country is a good way to increase insight; experience a completely different culture is a really great thing. (277字)

(六)其他

My first long trip in Australia was going to Cairns and Brisbane, and I challenged my first extreme sport in my life which is 15000 ft skydiving. It’s one of my unforgettable memories.(33字)
