(二)課程學習

My favorite course would be surfing class. I went to Hawaii and tried to surf once two years ago. It was really interesting and challenging. Therefore, once I saw the course list had this course, I enrolled it immediately. In the first class, we met the coach named Pepi who is almost seventy years old but still really athletic. He is talkative and outgoing. He started to go surfing when he was about twenty years old until now. In the second class, we went to a shop to buy our swimsuit and surfboard. After this, we have to get up at six and arrived at the beach before seven every Thursday. Although it was hard to get up, it was still a good opportunity to learn a skill that is hard to learn in Taiwan. We have another professor named Chris who is responsible for international students. Because I'm an international student, he would always say hello to me and ask me if I had any school problems recently. He is also an awesome surfer even better than our coach. There was a class before, which impressed me the most, that Chris did a fantastic move and it was so cool. After he caught a wave and stand up, all of sudden, he made his body upside down and use his head to pop on the surfboard. At that time, I still had some difficulty even with basic movements. It was so hard to believe that people can do that on the surfboard. In the last class, I got a medal which was sent by Pepi. It was all because I have attended every class and the other important point was I got stung by stingray. To be honest, to get stung was a special experience but I hoped I won't meet again in the future.(306字)

(三)生活環境

I lived in an apartment with my friends. There is a bus stop just in front of our department. Therefore, it was really convenient for us to take the bus to school. We even have a small pool on the first floor of the apartment. When the weather was cold, there was a jacuzzi next to the pool. It was so comfortable. Sometimes I even wanted to sleep in there. The weather in Los Angeles is so awesome. It is hard to have a rainy day. Most of the time they have big sun shining in the sky. Hense, wearing T-shirts all the time is our best choice. Just to remember always bring a jacket with you because sometimes the wind could be huge in the evening. To be honest, having a car over there is really important. A lot of places are far from our home. Taking bus costs a lot of time. Taking an Uber might need too much money. The site manager, Valerie, is really nice to us. Her husband, Diego, is our best friend. He often came down and visited us. They also had a sweet daughter called Jayde. We often hung out with them at the weekends or during the holidays. By the way, they really like hot pot. Every time when we had dinner outside, they always suggested hot pot. Valerie always said that without us, they would not be able to have such good food. Also, don't be afraid that you couldn't have Chinese food over there. They have so many kinds of Chinese food either in the department store or in the Chinatown. (271字)

(四)自我成長

First of all, the language barrier would be the first problem I met. Sometimes I really couldn’t understand what my friends or classmates were saying. I would replay the sentences in my brain quickly and tried to rethink again. Moreover, once my friends noticed I was hesitated to answer them, they would realize and explained to me again or tried to use another way to say again. By doing this, it helped me a lot. Me and my friends went to the gym a lot when we didn’t have the class. Sometimes we played basketball with Americans. They were so tough and athletic that we hardly have body contact with them because we would definitely get bumped and fly away. Also, when I stayed in America, I found out that everyone over there liked to go to the gym a lot. Many of them, either male or female, have a great shape. They really paid attention to their physical condition. At first, I was really afraid of speaking in the class because I think I could make mistakes. However, as time went by, I started to encourage myself to speak in class. Maybe it was because I always visited Valerie and Diego and chatted with them. We talked a lot of things, such as sports, politics, food, and even pets. I am very grateful to them. They brought me to several places that only locals would go. Local Mexican food made me surprised. Local home party made me just like I am an American who has lived there for a long time. These are all good memories for me.(271字)

(五)大三出國建議

Don’t be afraid to speak English and share your ideas or questions. You have already learned a lot of English. Everyone over there is really open-minded. Even you have some grammar or vocabulary mistakes, they still can understand what you mean. Practice makes perfect. The more you speak out, more chances you can learn. When approaching holidays or New Year, please drive even more carefully than usual. Otherwise, you might get pullover by the police. (Maybe it's all because they want more performances, just kidding) When you have free time, try to visit different places. You will have different view of the world. Try to communicate with your classmates and professors, you will get a lot of experiences which can help your English a lot.(126字)
