2022大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

The school I went to study abroad in my junior year was Winona state university. This is a rural school located in Minnesota, so it is winter for more than half a year, with snow and often below zero. I took the plane to my Winona's rental house on August 3rd, and wanted to get used to the environment first. After school started, I found that the teachers here are very kind to the students, and you can ask the teachers if you have any questions, so the relationship between teachers and students is very good. The traffic here is relatively inconvenient, but the advantage is that you can focus more on your studies. At the same time, the school also holds activities from time to time. As long as students participate, they will be free or have discounts. You can also make many friends in the activities and train English ability by yourself at the same time. In the last semester, I took some courses on storytelling, big media, programming and strengthening English writing and reading skills. The teacher is very humorous and often interacts with students in class, and taught a lot of knowledge and insights about big media. Make me learn more different possibilities in the computer. After coming here, I became more daring to ask, dare to speak, and I also dared to seek answers to questions after the class, and became more active in facing the coursework. My favorite class is computer science 101. The full name is Exploring Creative Computing. The teacher of this class is from mainland China, so you can ask him Chinese if you have any questions. Of course, he will still use some English to answer you. However, he is very nice and will guide you to the correct instructions. In this class, the content taught by the teacher is mainly about snap!, an easy-to-use program, which is very similar to the "scratch" what I learned in the computer class in junior high school before. You can use Snap! to create digital works such as stories, animations, games, or music. It provides a graphical operation interface, and you can write programs just by dragging the blocks with the mouse to make your works move. Through the built-in online upload function, you can upload your own work to the official website and share your creativity with the world. And you can also check the game or animation story you want to make on the official website. If you don’t know how to create it, there will be a reference program for you to watch, so that you can learn at the same time and generate greater interest in programming in snap!. In each class, there will be practice time and have homework to be handed in every week, mid-term and final reports to be handed in, and at the same time, you need to give a report on how the mini-game you invented was made. By the way, there are also mid-term exams and final exams during the whole class. In fact, his homework is not difficult. As long as you take the class seriously and completes it with the teacher, you will know how to do the assignment and practice. For the exam, you must be carefully to read the ppt in class and be familiar with the previous assignment and course content and to be able to know how to operate. In conclusion, although it is complicated and requires brains to operate new program by yourself, I will feel very accomplished, and the teacher is very enthusiastic about completing your questions and make you know more knowledge of it, so this class has become my favorite class.(376字)

(三)生活環境

The Winona campus is not big, but it has everything you need. As long as you are a student here, there are many activities and exhibitions you can attend and that will be discounted on it. There are also gymnasiums, swimming pools and basketball courts on campus, which are completely free if you use your ID card. When I have free time, I go to the gym and run or play basketnball with my friends to keep myself fit. My favorite place to stay on this campus is the library. The first floor is very suitable for discussion and report. You can talk and eat on the first floor.There are many group rooms that can be used by reservation. The best facility for me in group room is its computer screen device. As long as you download the app waht it need on your laptop, you can use the big screen to share your computer screen with your teamates directly. So it's a good choice when there are group reports or assignment want to discuss. There is also a beanbag in the group room, so when I get sleepy from reading and want to take a rest, I will lie on it. It can be said to be a very good service for students. The second floor is a relatively quiet place, where people should speak softly, and there are many books scattered here; the third floor is completely quiet, suitable for students who are about to prepare for the license exam. About the dorm, I don't live in school dorm actually. But thanks to my friends, I have the opportunity to go in and visit their dormitory. It is quite clean and well equipped. There is a billiard room, laundry room, kitchen, and a sofa in the room, but the price is too high. I didn't choose this place as my living place. The advantage of it in a dormitory is that it only takes three minutes to walk to the school, which is very convenient, and it is mandatory to have a meal plan when living in a dormitory, so you don’t have to worry about the food anymore. The food is mainly located in Kryzsko Commons, but there are very few things to eat. The second floor is an all-you-can-eat area, with drinks area, salad area, sandwich area, fried food area, and dessert and ice cream area. The first floor is the light meal area, with sushi, panda express, spaghetti, curry rice, drinks, starbucks and bagel or bread. There are not many types of food. The place most people like to go to is the all-you-can-eat area on the second floor, and I also eat there very often. The weather here is quite cold. I think it’s a different weather feeling between wet and cold in Winona and dry and cold in Taiwan. For more than half a year, the temperature is below zero, so you must bring a thick coat or buy it after you come here. Otherwise, you will be frostbitten when you go out in winter. But also because of this cold weather, seeing snow for the first time in my life is my most unforgettable experience.(536字)

(四)自我成長

Each friend and teacher I met here is very independent, very thoughtful, and not afraid to try anything. This is the place where I should learn the most, because Taiwan is a relatively conservative place, and I need the help of my parents to make any decisions or students simply don't know what their future aspirations are. After I came here, I became more independent, and I needed to do complicated things like accommodation, transportation, meals, and even paying taxes by myself. It also made a big change in my attitude towards every item and event. When walking on the road, Americans will say hello to you very kindly, or ask you how's your day, even if you don’t know each other, this is something that doesn’t happen in Taiwan, which makes me feel much more cordial. The biggest cultural shock should be the relationship and the way of class. In terms of emotion, I heard that many American friends have girlfriends or boyfriends from their parents. The same thing will be scolded as wrong behavior in Taiwan. My opinion is that if they are happy, then you are free to make any decisions, and you just have to bear the consequences yourself, so as not to affect others. In terms of the way of class, the teacher mostly interacts with the students at the same time in a guiding way. He often asks questions in class, and the students are willing to raise their hands to answer. I think this kind of interaction is the most important part that Taiwan need to learn from it. At the same time, it can deepen the relationship with the teacher, and can better understand the important information in the classroom. It is no wonder that American students are much more serious than Taiwanese students, and they also know which direction they should move forward in the future. For the part of the school curriculum, you can listen to the advice of the students who studied here before, or you can choose the courses you want to take. There are many departments here, so just do it. There are a lot of homework and exams, so you have to complete them and I think it will take a long time because English is not your native language. There is basically a new assignment after each class, but as long as you listen to it in class, and submit the assignment before the dateline, and can discuss it with the teacher if you have any questions, so you don’t have to worry too much about the grades.(436字)

(五)大三出國建議

For students who want to come to Winona state university, the most difficult part is the transportation, tourism and climate. Because it is very rural, it takes 2-3 hours to get to the big city from here, and the buses and trains are often delayed. When traveling, you have to take a ride at a big airport "Msp". The United States land is very large, and many people’s means of transportation is a car. In addition, we are international students, so it is not easy to have a car in United States, you need to have some solution to solve the problem. In winter, you really need to bring a thick coat or other warm clothing like golves, boots, scarves to survive in the cold winter. However, sometimes the teacher will have a holiday because the snow is too heavy, which is a small blessing for the students. Before coming here, all the important documents like visa must be copied in advance, and some records will be checked when passing through the customs. There are also some vaccine certificates that need to be reissued. Otherwise, it will be very troublesome to call again after coming to the United States. You can check everyone’s evaluation of the city of Winona and the mode of transportation on the Internet. Living outside or living in a student dormitory is your own consideration. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, because living off-campus is much cheaper than on-campus, but some landlords do not include internet, gas, electricity, water, etc. have to be taken care of by themselves. Living on campus is also good, you can take the opportunity to meet new friends, and there are many activities in the dormitory that you can participate in. At the same time, you can practice your English speaking as well. You don’t have to be too nervous, just face it with a normal heart. To put it simply, you must do some important information before coming here, including accommodation, meals, or transportation, and so on. You can also strengthen some English skills in your spare time, let yourself get used to the existence of English, and learn some words and local usages, which can make your relationships with friends become closer.(377字)

(六)其他

On a snowy day, I will be an angel in the snow with my friends, throw snowballs, and build a cute snowman. I am really glad to have the opportunity to study in Winona. The relationship with my friends will be super good, and they will take good care of you. We spent two pleasant semesters with each other. Although the time was short, I am very happy to have the opportunity to meet you guys. I hope in the future, you guys can come to Taiwan to visit, or I can travel to your country, and continue to maintain this rare friendship. This teacher is a teacher from the International Affairs Office who helped us with many problems. Since I first came to this school, she told us a lot of precautions, such as bank account opening, application materials, student ID card, admission procedures, etc. She did it all by herself. I am really grateful to know you this year when I was able to go abroad again. It made my life more colorful, and she also helped me when I have some problem happened. I am not so afraid of anything I encounter in a foreign country because of this angel teacher. I hope that in the future we can meet again, I will tell you about my recent situation and communicate with you about life and interesting events.(231字)
