2023大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

(一)基本資料

California state university Long Beach. From August 2023 to May 2024, and classes I took including classical world Greece and Rome, lifespan human development, the meaning of life, gender race sex and societies, world mythology, youth policing and justice, pyramids tombs and treasure, and medical technology and human bodies.(47字)

(二)課程學習

The class i like the most is the pyramids tombs and treasure. It is an archaeology class, and we can learn may approach that those archeologist from past to present uses, and the professor took a lot of famous archeological sites as an example in his class. This class may be a little bit difficult, but i really learned a lot in this class. And what makes this class so special is that our professor himself is an archeologist, and he set up some lab classes for us. In the lab classes, we have to finish a multiple pages work sheet by discovering the materials using those archeological skills that was taught in class. It is really interesting because we can literally touch and look deep into those materials that can only be find in the museum. The professor also show movies about the archeological record and material remains, the one i am most impressed is about the cannibalism, the scientist in video examines the cut marks on the bones and other evidences and found cannibalism actually happened at that time that place. After showing us that movie, our professor shows us an animal’s head bone, and points out the cut mark on that bone, it looks really similar to the ones in the movie. It is so cool and i would never forget that class. Taking that class might somehow make people feel sleepy because the professor’s tone is quite gentle, but i have to say, it really worth us to listen carefully to him, he is really a intelligent and patient professor. Also, he grades our classworks and quizzes quite high, so we don’t really have to worry about failing the classes even if we can’t fully understand the class contents. And you can ask him questions during his office hour, he would answer you patiently.(312字)

(三)生活環境

Our school is quite big and beautiful, and there are many squirrels everywhere, they are vey cute and you can even see them fighting with each other. There are many lawn in our school, and many people like to lie on the lawn, so the atmosphere here is really chill. Our school is near the beach, we only have to drive about five minutes to get to the beach, many people like to take a stroll or ride bike by the sea, it is really comfortable to do so, although some beach is actually not really clean. There are also many supermarkets and shopping center near by, it is convenient and we can buy almost everything here, if we can’t find it in store, we can use online shopping like Amazon, there’s a amazon hub locker in our school. The weather here is always pretty good, it is always sunny and the sky is always blue, and air here is fresh (except the marijuana smell everywhere). The traffic here is a little bit crazy, especially during the rush hours, there are often traffic jams. There’s an airport in Long Beach, which is seven minutes away from school, and the los Angelos international airport is about thirty minutes away from school, but the traffic there is busy, so Uber of Lyft is highly recommmended, it costs about 50 usd to get to the airport, but the price vary by time. So i think every thing is convenient here in Long Beach.(252字)

(四)自我成長

I find many classes and those assignments very diffficult and overwhelming, so i used a lot of professor’s office hour to ask for help. Professors are very nice and patient, although I kept on asking stupid questions, they answers me clear and throughly again and again. Professors i met are all really nice, some can even postpone the homework’s deadline without deducting points after i write mails telling them the reason, so i think the point is that we have to try to communicate with professor, everything won’t be that complicated. Culture also left a deep impression on me. There are multiple integrations here, students here come from all over the world, including many races and genders. In such an environment, i had not only learned to respect, but also cultivated the ability of cross-cultural communication. Like knowing it is impolite to say what to what kind of people, saying what words may be considered as a racist, and learn what to do if we met a racist or feel like someone is offending you. Although cultural shock brings challenges, it is also an opportunity to grow and learn. By adapting to and understanding the new culture, we can expand their horizons, enhance their cross-cultural communication skills, and gradually enjoy the multiculturalism. The school has various resources and services provided. These departments and centers can provide various forms of support and help, and you can seek help from the school when you encounter problems. I’ve never tried before but my friends says that they are quite helpful.(261字)

(五)大三出國建議

For the students planning to choose California state university Long Beach, I have some suggestions: First of all, there are many outstanding professors in our school, so you can definitely learn something if you pay attention to class. Second is that learn to drive and get a drivers license would make your life here much more comfortable, and can really save a lot of time. Third is that having good English skills is actually not that important because language is just a way to communicate, as long as people can understand your words, that’s enough. Finally, The most important of all is to seek help and support when encountering difficulties, including academic, psychological and social support, and learn to learn and grow from failure. Studying abroad is a precious experience, seize the opportunity to fully experience and grow.(139字)
