(一)基本資料

I studied abroad for a year at Marie Curie University in Poland, which is located in Lublin, a city in southeastern Poland. During this time, I chose a different subject (Political Science and Jornalism) from the tourism department in Tamkang. In this short period of one year, I also took many elective courses in different systems. In the classroom, some professors like to teach in an interactive way. Although the language is a bit limited (although the teachers teach in English, the level is very uneven), the overall experience is still good.(92字)

One of my favorite classes is: Degital Designing. There are several special parts of this class that I would like to share in order. First of all, the way our professors teach is very interesting. The professors will tell us some new software or websites. This kind of teaching method is different from the old type of courses and adds more participation. Second, there are many times when we need to form teams and communicate with other students. Therefore, there will be no boredom in class, making you sleepy or wasting time. Third, the main theme of this class is to hope that we can complete a mobile APP. Whether it is designing a web interface or a software application, it requires a lot of time and collaboration among classmates. I still remember that we decided to make a food app, but we needed to think about how to clearly distinguish it from the previous UBER EATS on the market. To be honest, I was very upset when I heard the final topic at the beginning. I have neither the foundation of design nor the experience of information software. During this process, I really worked hard to complete the tasks at each stage. I’m grateful that my teammates complemented each other so we got it done. So overall it was a very interesting and challenging course. I have taken two courses from this professor, and he is the second person in charge of our department. In Poland, the efficiency is basically very poor, but this professor is one of the few who is very patient and has a good English level. If you have any questions, send him an email and he will usually reply within a day or two. This department covers many types of courses, such as technology, politics, economics, journalism, etc. So, I highly recommend choosing this department to diversify your options. (316字)

Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin is the largest public university in Poland on the eastern side of the Vistula River. We are an institution deeply rooted in the region, where we have been a culture- and opinion-former since 1944 and make a significant contribution to building a knowledge-based economy. To date, over 267,000 students have graduated from our Alma Mater. graduates. A comprehensive educational offer and extensive experience are our advantages. UMCS provides education at 12 Faculties in Lublin, nearly 90 fields of study and approximately 300 specializations. Every year, we offer candidates new education paths and improve the existing offer with unique and practical specializations. Currently, there are 120 scientific clubs and university-wide organizations at UMCS, which bring together active young people who organize interesting initiatives. In total, nearly 16,000 students study at UMCS, including over 1,700 foreigners representing 60 countries around the world. For comparison: in the academic year 2010/2011, only approximately 200 foreigners from abroad studied at our university. They also educate doctoral students at three Doctoral Schools: the Doctoral School of Humanities, the Doctoral School of Social Sciences and the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences. We are currently carrying out research in as many as 24 scientific disciplines that are evaluated at the University. They also have an attractive offer of postgraduate studies, most of which are carried out in cooperation with partners from the socio-economic environment. They are constantly developing our scientific and research potential. We have modern laboratories and workshops, and we also invest in infrastructure and modernization of existing facilities. The university operates, among others: a modern Institute of Computer Science, the Center for Functional Nanomaterials at the Faculty of Chemistry and the Media and Art Incubator. Together with four research and scientific units, we have established the Analytical and Program Center for Advanced Environmentally Friendly Technologies ECOTECH-COMPLEX, equipped with innovative laboratories and high-quality equipment, including high-field magnetic resonance imaging. Student cultural life is centered around the Academic Center for Culture and Media Chatka Żaka UMCS. The modernization, renovation and equipment works of the facility, which lasted almost 2 years, were completed in September 2020. The modernized part "A" of Chatka Żaka is the famous auditorium, the renovated part "B" is the back of the hall. After the renovation, the auditorium resembles its original appearance (immortalized on a postcard with the famous photograph by Zbigniew Siemaszko from 1967), provides seating for 372 people and uses the necessary solutions in the field of stage technology. The facility has retained all the characteristic modernist finishing elements, including: a mosaic in the hall or a spiral staircase. ACKiM Chatka Żaka is a place created with students in mind and thanks to them it is teeming with life. There are various artistic groups and innovative university media of an informative and educational nature: Academic Radio Centrum and Academic Television TV UMCS. Artistic events known in the country and abroad also take place there every year. ACKiM Chatka Żaka is also a space conducive to learning together and spending time with friends. Another such place is undoubtedly the iconic academic canteen "Trójka" located between the UMCS dormitories. The place refers to the famous canteen no. 3, which has been serving students since the 1970s. University graduates still remember this building, thanks to its architecture, with great sentiment. When reactivating the academic canteen in October 2019, the university authorities listened to the voices of students who expressed their support for the need to restore such a place on the university campus. The facility has undergone a major renovation both inside and out. This is a completely new space where students, PhD students, university employees, as well as residents of Lublin can eat healthy and tasty meals. In addition to the catering area, the new space also has a special coworking zone for students to study freely, work individually or together, and relax. (629字)

Although it sounds cruel to say this, this is actually what happened to me. You need to tell yourself that I am great and have the confidence to do everything on your own. It is highly recommended to buy a network card in Taiwan a few days before coming (to spend the first week)!!! If you use the Internet a lot and stay in the dormitory, you will definitely need to buy a base station. I also installed the dormitory by myself and no one will help you. In terms of language, it is recommended to first learn some basic greetings and daily life expressions. English is not commonly used here, so it will be helpful to at least know some Polish. (232字)

(六)其他

This one-year study abroad experience is very valuable. I have experienced the importance of my own growth during this journey and have accomplished many incredible things on my own. For example: repair your own heating, open sewers, buy base stations and assemble and set up, go to the emergency room in the middle of the night, etc. I experienced many unforgettable experiences and also completed my bucket list of traveling alone for two weeks. I take this opportunity to make myself a better me.(84字)
